Childcare Volunteer
Role Overview:
Provide a nurturing and safe environment for children while their mothers attend programs or need backup care. All childcare volunteers are coordinated and scheduled through our Volunteer Coordinator to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
Responsibilities:
• Supervise children during playtime and activities
• Help with homework or educational activities (if applicable)
• Serve meals/snacks and clean up afterward
• Ensure a safe and engaging environment
• Communicate any behavioral or safety concerns to staff
Time Commitment:
• Monday through Thursday evenings (program hours)
• Flexible hours for backup care (weekends, school closures, sick days)
RequiredTraining:
• Experience with children
• Patience, empathy, and a nurturing attitude
• Clearances (background checks)
• First Aid/CPR certification (preferred)
• Mandated Reporter Certification

Before & After School Care Volunteer
Role Overview:
Assist children with their daily school routines, ensuring a smooth transition between home and school.
Responsibilities:
• Help children get on/off the bus safely
• Supervise morning or afternoon transitions
• Assist with packing or unpacking backpacks
• Communicate any issues or concerns to staff
Time Commitment:
• Morning or afternoon shifts, based on school schedules

House Project Volunteer
Role Overview:
Help maintain and improve the living environment for residents through various house projects.
Opportunities:
• Deep cleaning specific areas (e.g., kitchens, bathrooms)
• Painting trim, doors, and walls as needed
• Small handyman repairs (fixing fixtures, minor carpentry)
Time Commitment:
• Flexible, based on project needs
Skills Required:
• Basic maintenance and repair skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Volunteer to Provide a Meal
Role Overview:
Prepare or provide nutritious meals for residents.
Responsibilities:
• Cook and deliver meals (or organize meal drop-offs)
• Ensure meals are balanced and cater to dietary needs (if provided)
• Assist with kitchen cleanup (if on-site)
Time Commitment:
• Flexible, based on meal schedules
Skills Required:
• Cooking experience
• Food safety knowledge
• Ability to follow dietary guidelines (if needed)
Sisterhood Mentor
Role Overview:
Provide compassionate, emotional, and spiritual support, along with practical guidance, to mothers in the program.
Responsibilities:
• Meet with assigned moms at least once per month for regular check-ins
• Provide encouragement and support in areas such as budgeting, parenting, and daily life skills
• Offer spiritual encouragement and prayer, as appropriate
• Serve as a positive role model and compassionate listening ear, reflecting Christ’s lover
Time Commitment:
• Monthly in-person meetings with Mom and/or Children, 1–2 hours each
• Weekly check-in via phone
• Up to 4 group activities
Skills Required:
• Empathy and good listening skills
• Relevant life experience (e.g., parenting, counseling)
• Confidentiality and professionalism

Special Events Volunteer
Role Overview:
Plan and execute events for moms and kids to foster community and celebration.
Responsibilities:
• Plan events (e.g., holiday parties, birthdays)
• Assist with setup, execution, and cleanup
• Coordinate with other volunteers for activities or entertainment
Time Commitment:
• As needed, based on event schedules

Outdoor Maintenance Volunteer
Role Overview:
Maintain and enhance outdoor spaces to keep them safe, welcoming, and beautiful for residents. This may include lawn care, planting and tending gardens, trimming shrubs, weeding, mulching, and other landscaping tasks that create an inviting environment for families.
Responsibilities:
• Clean and maintain the playground in spring and fall
• Conduct seasonal grounds cleanup (e.g., raking leaves, planting flowers)

Donation Organization Volunteer
Role Overview:
Support the donation process by helping organize and manage incoming items, ensuring families receive the resources they need.

• Assist with sorting and categorizing donated items
• Help keep the donation area clean and organized
• Support distribution of items to families as needed

Event Committee Member
Role Overview:
Assist in planning and executing fundraising or community events.
Responsibilities:
• Help plan event logistics (venues, vendors, activities)
• Promote events within the community
• Assist with setup, execution, and breakdown

• Varies by event; regular planning meetings leading up to events
